Just like any other typical Singaporean family, my parents always wanted me to have a nine to five office job with stable income. So I did as I have always respected them. After eight years of working in the bank, I feel that I am not heading anywhere in terms of career advancement and income. Then when I met my friend who is then my financial consultant to talk about my insurance coverage, we chatted a lot. I asked her how she is doing in this line, whereby she told me a lot of positive things about this career.
After meeting up with her, I have thinking a lot of what she said. Finally, I called her and would like her to arrange a meet up session with her manager. Through an interview with her manager, I decided to make a career switch. It’s hard to break the news to my parents, but I did. They didn’t really say anything much but I know they didn’t want me to.
I have been working with my manager for six years. Throughout these years, I indeed have a big jump in my income, achieved some titles, and also a lot of incentive overseas trips. I have satisfaction as I have touched people’s lives likewise they have touched mine. But I feel I am stagnant here after six years of service here.
Then one day, my friend told me about Peter Tan Organisation (PTO®). On how big the organisation is, the kind of training and learning the organisation provide. So I told myself, I don’t lose out anything to meet this gentleman, Mr Peter Tan, to find out more. When I first reached the office, I am already very impressed by the set up of the office, so nice and professional! It’s so unlike my previous office.
So there in one of the impressive meeting room we had a discussion session. He told me how his organisation worked, he said a lot which I really can’t remember all the details. But I have captured all the important details that I needed to know. This organisation not only does financial planning for people but also a lot of other things that really attracted me. They also does charity, which I strongly believes, also a lot of other projects, also a lot of self discipline(which I am lacking already), also a lot of trainings for our knowledge, and also a strong believe in importance of family, which I super strongly believes as I love my family a lot!
In the end, I decided to join this big family! After a month or so of transition, I finally settled down in this big family. I am glad that I did so, as l have learned a lot of things here though it’s only a while that I have joined the Peter Tan Organisation (PTO®).
